Goals

To support our philosophy and continuity between home and the learning center, Discovery Tree follows these principles:

• To create and environment where laughter, joy and respect for the child are the heart of the program.
• To provide a safe, cognitively challenging and emotionally nurturing environment in which children can move freely and explore their world.
• To provide a predictable environment that allows children an opportunity to anticipate and make choices.
• To nurture and guide the child's natural curiousity and love of learning.
• To provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum that values play as the true work of children.
• To encourage creativity, imagination, and diverse thinking.
  
• To facilitate an awareness of cultural diversity and promote anti-bias thinking.
• To offer an environment which says "Touch, Explore and Discover!"

Discovery Tree creates a learning environment that, along with being non-violent and non-sexist, also presents and respects diversity of ethnic and culteral viewpoints.  We seek to create a balance between adult directed times and independent choices and self-exploration.
